May 9th saw Capel host Wateringbury at the Capel Rec, Wateringbury won the toss and elected to field. Dan and Jon Stronell opened the batting for Capel and began to add runs until Jon was caught for 3 with the score at 28. Bim then joined Dan at the crease and took the score to 49 before Dan was caught and bowled for 40.
Skipper Darren Semple was next in and moved the score on to 91 with the loss of Bim and Ian before the arrival of Ryan Walmsley and they moved the score briskly to 146 before Darren was caught for a decent 56. The Ryan show then started in a stand of 88 with Alex Stevenson that saw Ryan reach his maiden century for Capel off 45 balls with 8 fours and 9 sixes with a strike rate of 224! – Well done Ryan!
Ryan eventually returned to the pavilion to a great reception bowled for 101 . Capel finished the 40 overs with 247 runs for 9 wickets.
The Wateringbury innings got off to a slow start with wickets in the first two overs from Dan and Adan Stronell and never really got going at the pace we know they can achieve. Capel decided to use all ten outfield players to bowl the 40 overs. Notable bowling from Jon Stronell 2-7, Niran on debut 2-4 and Adam Stronell 2-27 off 7 overs. Wateringbury eventually finishing on 137 all out from their 40 overs to give Capel the win.
